This past weekend, on Saturday, 22 August, runners and well-wishers gathered at Gateway Mall in Lilongwe to take part in the 2026 Malawi Rotary Cancer Run. The event featured three categories: a 21 kilometer Half Marathon, a 10 kilometre Corporate Challenge, and a 5 kilometer Family Fun Run, drawing participants from across the city. We were proud to support this year's run as the main sponsor. As a bank, we recognize that our responsibilities extend beyond financial services into the wellbeing of the communities we serve. Proceeds from the run will go towards establishing a Cancer Centre at Likuni Mission Hospital, which will bring cancer treatment and care closer to patients who currently must travel long distances for such services. Speaking at the event, our Acting Managing Director, Beatrix Mosiwa, said: "As the main sponsor, Centenary Bank is honoured to stand alongside the Rotary Club of Blantyre and every organisation, volunteer, and supporter who has made this initiative possible. This is more than a run. It is about hope, healing, and giving individuals and families affected by cancer a better chance at treatment and a healthier future". The Deputy Minister of Health, Charles Chilambulo, attended the event and spoke on the importance of cooperation between government and private institutions in addressing the country's health challenges. We extend our thanks to every runner, volunteer, and supporter who took part. Your participation contributes directly to a cause that will benefit many. If you were present, we encourage you to look through the photographs and identify anyone you recognize. #MalawiRotaryCancerRun #CentenaryBank #BeyondBanking #TogetherWeCan #CancerAwareness
